Welcome to the Attention Resistance. Learn more about me, the resistance and things this website has to offer.

Welcome to the launch of and my first blog post. My name is Charlotte and I am so excited to share ideas, book reviews, how-to’s and inspiration about one of the biggest challenges in our daily lifes at the moment: attention scarcity. I would like to start by telling you why I created this blog, what you will be seeing more of in my posts, and my overall experience regarding the attention economy.

The feeling of being bombarded with information and inquiries has been growing over the years - even though I felt like an early adopter quitting Facebook in 2010. Since I have two daughters it gets ridiculous:

I can't manage to stay in touch via LinkedIn/Mail/phone/Apps, stay up to date in national and international politics and develop my own thoughts.

Not to mention to be a loving mum and keep up with such mundane things as cleaning and cooking.

For a long time I've tried to tackle this with an ever growing amount of efficiency - speed cleaning, certain time to answer mails, miracle morning, ... name it and I've tried it. It was EXHAUSTING. But after my second daughter was born I read "Stand out of our light" by James Williams and "Digital Minimalism" by Cal Newport and was so relieved: finally someone is talking about this. And they talk about the subject not in a self-help-improving-my-weird-take-on-communication-why-am-the-only-one-overwhelmed-by-this but from a meta-level (especially James Williams who worked for Google before he turned Philosopher).

It's not only about self-improvement, it's a societal challenge

Williams and Newport see this overload as a societal challenge and so do I. Attention is indeed a scarce source and it's not my fault that I can't keep up. After having this realization I was surprised that the idea of a attention resistance is not widely discussed anywhere. I want to change that and will post helpful ideas from books, practical advice and especially stories and advice from other people interested in the topic. I would especially love to see someone's creative take on the topic. I believe that this is just the beginning.

Let's resist!
